Welcome to Year 5. This is a year in which the children are increasingly encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning and become more independent. They will embed all of the knowledge learned in lower Key Stage 2, and start preparations for transition to Year 6 and onto secondary school. Although there is no statutory test at the end of Year 5, we will assess the children during the year to make sure that they are at the expected level in English and maths. They will get to experience changes in science first-hand when we roast marshmallows, visit Harewood House, and make the links to learning across science, history, and much more.
